    That thing is too addictive!
I was thinking to write about it sooner or later, then I discovered that they offer a prize if you write about it. So this is my first sort-of sponsored post.

First thing to say, Clicky is a web analysis tool. It works like every other remotely hosted analysis tools. The fact that it’s not on your own server means that it cannot access your web server’s log files. The only way it can create a log of what is happening then is to put some piece of code on your site that will call a piece of code on their site so they can track the user. I am not an expert on this kind of things (yet), even if My Visitors’ List use more or less the same technology. Technologically wise it’s not that difficult to create a tools like that. The difficult part is to create something appealing like Clicky. The interface is very clear and you understand how it works in seconds. The fact that it’s (almost?) real time is what it makes it so addictive. I usually check their website every time I don’t know what to do, even if I don’t have a lot of readership. I like the fact that you can easily spot the nationality of your users. You can even see the city, but it’s not that accurate (I see myself coming from several different cities every day)

    International Users, eh? :-)

Try it, they give you the premium version for free for some time, then they will downgrade you to the free version. Don’t worry, the free version is good enough if you are not that picky. If you want something better you can pay for it.It’s very cheap, less than 2 dollars per month!

And then you will help starving programmers :-)
