Keywords, Firefox and my readers
By maurizio | April 26, 2007
I am starting to see some good traffic from Google. When I speak about *good* traffic I mean more than 4-5 search per day. This is good for me, because I have around 10-12 unique visitors during the last weeks. I used to have more than 100 visitors several weeks ago, but it was stumble-upon traffic. Stumble Upon traffic is more or less like Digg’s one; they just look on the stumbled page and then they leave. Maybe it’s my fault too because the stumble pages where just some fun thing I wrote and nothing relevant.
The most relavant stuff I wrote were about Firefox. It seems that removing the Firefox beep when you search is something people are interested about. I think that the Mozilla foundation should add an easy way to do that. The second most important blog entry are actually divided in 3: How to enable network pipelining in Firefox, What is Network Pipelining 2 and What is Network Pipelining 1 (wich is even the most commented post I have (apart from the one about ads that I don’t link because I get 1 spam message on it every 4-5 hours).
I should probably go on and speak about my Firefox Plugins, but I plan to write about it later. (I will probably add a link here).
Anyway, if you are not using Firefox yet, try it, maybe by clicking on my affiliate link. :-)
Note that this post is full of Firefox references. It seems that people like what I write about it, so maybe by citing it a bit more it will help my google rank.
Cite yourself and you will be cited. :)
Speaking about readership, I noticed my first African reader from Tanzania. Hi! The name of my site it probably sounds familiar to you..if not add an “h”. If it’s still not familiar, it means either you don’t speak Swahili or my Swahili sources are wrong :).
Reading Google Analytics, I noticed a few things.
1. John Chow’s site readers doesn’t really matters about outbounds links from his site. If the link is not well *published* you’ll get only a few readers. From my Lamborghini post, which I sent a link to him because I know he likes fast cars, I just got 10-12 readers. From my JohnChow.com shortest review ever I got only 30-40 readers in a few days. That’s not much, but I probably forgot to tell John to put a decent title to it.It’s a funny joke if you read it, but if it doesn’t have a catchy title, no one will bother..especially after you read more than 500 reviews ( I doubt someone read them all (apart from John himself, I saw him on my logs :-) ).
2. I don’t have a lot of referrals. Pity. It means my content is not good enough for people to speak about it. I even saw a link from aol’s webmail (Hi Paula!)
3. Firefox is the king of my google’s referrals.I should probably continue with it.. I should probably go on with my Tutorial on how to create a Firefox extension, but I don’t have enough readership so I’m not sure it’s a good idea to start it now..especially because of my other projects (now 3. I can speak only about My Visitors’ list because it’s the only one in open alpha stage. The other two are in closed beta.
Anyway this post is getting too long. Better to stop it here.
